Specifically: The Word, AKA: The Word of God, Scripture
the expressed or manifested mind and will of God
G3056 lógos (from 3004 /légō, “speaking to a conclusion”) – is preeminently used of Y’shua (John 1:1)
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
The Word of God can be defined is a few different ways. The word can be defined as Y’shua because He is the word made flesh. It is also the Tanakh or Old Testament. When referring to the bible, The Word or Scriptures are only those books that are the inspired words of YHWH, which are the books of Genesis thru Malachi and Revelation. The majority of the New Testament is not the inspired words of YHWH but are a collection of letters written to specific groups of people at specific periods of time.
When we read verses such as 2 Timothy 3:16, the scriptures being referred to are NOT our modern day bibles, but only the books of Genesis thru Malachi, because at the time that this verse in 2 Timothy was written, there was NO New Testament. With a proper understanding of what is known as the Old Testament, it becomes clear that there is nothing new in the New Testament because it was all foretold in the Tanakh.« Back to Glossary Index
